I went to the Olympics last night. The Equestrian Events are being held in Hong Kong.
While not a big Olympics fan nor a big sports fan, I got tickets from work and figured I'd go - just to say I'd attended the Olympics...once (I stupidly missed seeing the Beatles in 1964 because I didn't realize one day I'd want to say I was there - even if you couldn't hear anything).
It was the jumping portion of Eventing (like the triathlon for horses - they do dressage, cross-country AND jumping over 3 days - this was the last day). It was held in the evening, I assume because it would be way too hot & humid for the horses in the daytime. Also better for spectators.
Manulife is an Official Sponsor of the Olympics which is why I assume they had all these tickets to give away to long-service employees, managers, customers etc.
Unfortunately, I forgot my camera. But someone else from Manulife had some pictures she shared.
The first picture is Selina (whose pictures these are) in front of one of the buses that has the Manulife Olympic promotion all over it. Then there's a picture of the Olympic Mascots by the jumping arena (not very big so everyone could easily see). And then a few pictures of the arena, horses and riders. They didn't give out the medals until after midnight (we had left long before) so no pictures of that.

So...that's my Olympics in Hong Kong.

That's really cool! Your were at the olympics!!!!!!
Cool!
Lucky you!
I am waiting to see something of the dressage and show jumping events, but so far nothing has been shown on t.v.
Canada's Big Ben won many medals for show jumping all over the world. I loved watching the events in late 80's and early 90's.
Regards,
Sonie
