Hi Everyone,
Sorry I know its very long. I didn't realize until the end how much I wrote!!!! Enjoy the update!
Before I begin I would just like to say that Shalom asked me to please make the blog in paragraph form because it makes it easier to read. So if you can please all let me know if it makes it more readable (if that is a word) otherwise I won't go through the trouble of figuring out when to start a new paragraph. I know it has something to do with a new topic............ I guess I have been out of school for too long!
So now lets begin. Oh wait before I forget, someone posted the comment "But aren't you supposed to take out your bite plate before you eat? I want to see pics of your room!" the only thing is they posted it as annonaymiss. (time to go back to school. I am sure there is a y in there somewhere...) anyway it does help to sign your name when you comment because then I can personalize the response in my next post.
OK now let really begin.
Last I left off the couch had just arrived. (whats weird is the rules about no breathing while on the couch have not let up. I never thought that the Ve.ffer family of all people would never have a couch that Ima would consider laminating clear plastic.) So we put some blue pillows on it and it looks just dazzling. Its so cool when we ordered the couch we didn't know what color the walls were going to be, just what family of colors, and the couch ended up being pretty much the exact same color as the wall... AMAZING!!
So if you look in the last post at the picture of the couch you will see a brown coffee table that was in the office/living room/front room/parlor, you know the first room on the right when you walk into the Conley house. Anyway so that is the table that is Nana's and we were holding onto it for her. (I think that table went from here to Israel and then back here and then when we all come back it will probably come too..."Ladies and Gentlemen, I am proud to introduce to you the one the only.......TRAVELING TABLE!!" (ever wonder why they say ladies and then gentlemen if they said it at a time were the women were supposed to cook and clean and stay at home?)) Well back to my point which isn't even so important, we had to find another home for it because it was too big. so now instead we have a glass table that I happen to really like!
So that was Thursday.
I ended up going to my friends house for Shabbas, which was very nice and her mother is a really good cook. (as a wise women once said..."If the mother is a good cook, become the girl's friend.) The rest of the family had a pretty good Shabbas... I think. I just tried to question Shalom about it but he doesn't remember. Figures. Maybe if I bribe him with food he will think harder. Oh and everyone drank about 5 gallons of water, EACH, to prepare themselves for that fast that was Saturday night Sunday.
The fast was good. It went by pretty fast (no pun intended. really) Abba and Yonah spent most of the morning at The Village Shul and then later on Shalom, Ima and I joined them. We watched the Aish video Obsession with a 20 minute shuir by Rabbi Milstien at the end. The we saw this years Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation video that was pretty good. Rabbi Krohn and Rabbi Salomon both spoke about how the root of "Sinat Chinam", baseless hatred (this is what brought the destruction of the second temple) is envy.
Just to give a quick example. Rabbi Salomon said this example and I elaborated it a little. So lets say you have a neighbor. A nice neighbor. One day you are about to get into your car and your neighbor drives into his driveway and gets out of his car. You realize right away that he just got out of a nice, new, shiny, sleek, black Ferrari. He clicks his electric car locker and the car beeps automatically. (like Nana's car) Your neighbor calls over "Good Morning" and goes into his house. "Wow" you say to yourself. "Good for him that he can buy himself such a nice car." As you turn back to unlock your car that, you were just about to get into, you realize that you don't have an electric car unlocker. You have to take the key and unlock your 1999 Honda Civic by hand, the old fashion way. Now is about when your mind starts rolling. You begin to wonder. "I work just as hard as him". "I think i deserve a car like that too." (Right about now is when you realize you are a bit nuts because you are having a conversation with yourself. Then again there is a crazy part to us all.) "Yeah, I should have a car like that." "I work harder than him" "I should be the one with the nice car" "He doesn't deserve that car" "It should be mine" "wait a moment that's my car in his driveway!" "He stole my car!" "I HATE HIM!"
We broke the fast on good food and about a gallon of water each.
Then Monday was a big milestone (is it called a milestone because it is a stone every mile to show that you went a long way and it is a big deal?) in the Ve.ffer house. Abba and Ima hired me to do little more than half of the laundry from the nine days and I did 12 loads!!!!!!! CRAZY!!! (I just had a little debate with myself if I should write the story of the laundry because this post is SO LONG! and I decided I will because I am on a roll.) So basically I woke up Monday morning and bused up to (sorry I just remembered something funny, the word "bused" triggered this memory. I think it was the trip of EL's wedding when we were in Israel. I got on a bus and went to sit down. As I was sitting I was looking around and reading the signs above the back door and I saw a sign that said EGGED but and in Egg + ed. So I was sitting there thinking "well it could mean that this bus once got egged as in stoned and it is a remembrance". Then I got a little more creative and thought that the sign was acknowledging the fact that someone had to many beans the night before. I was wondering and wondering. I think it was only when I went to Israel the next time did I figure out that it was Eged the bus company!!! Dumb I know!)
OK. Forget the my laundry experience. Maybe I will write about it next time. It is just to much already. Oh and I have been blogging for almost AN HOUR!!!!
Now I have to go edit it so that it is half understandable.
Love and Miss you all
