Concierge delivering beautiful flowers, for me?

My meeting has been postponed for 1/2 hr.
There was something I thought to share that I couldn't put in my last "Note from Hong Kong" (for reasons not worth going into).

Sometimes in Hong Kong it feels as if I'm living someone else's life. I had one of those moments last week.

The concierge at the hotel called to say he had a package to deliver (note - the concierge called - not a normal occurrence in my life). I had no idea what it could be. When he arrived he had this big beautiful arrangement of flowers (getting flowers is not only not a normal occurrence in my life, it isn't even a rare occurrence). So I told him it probably was a mistake and wasn't for me. He showed me the envelope with my room number and asked if it wasn't my room number. I said it was, but there still had to be a mistake. It couldn't be for me. T hen he pointed out my name on the envelope and asked if it wasn't my name. I said it was (and even spelled properly), but there still had to be a mistake. It couldn't be for me. But since it had my name and room number I took it. Still mystified.

When I opened the envelope I discovered it was from my friends Richard and Esther & Keith. Esther and Keith who were vacationing in Palm Springs California and had had dinner with our mutual friend Richard (the four of us spend time annually at a cottage near Haliburton).

Since the three of them were together, and missed me, they decided to send me some flowers.

It was SO nice and thoughtful of them. And as you can see, the arrangement is very unusual (and amazingly, still alive).
Anyway, it was a really lovely thing that I thought I would share. (And it gave me a chance to try adding an image into the blog. Unlike my silly brother's entry, this is the real picture. )
Love,
Carolynne
